Make Waterfront Restoration a Priority in Light of Historically High Water Levels

If you went on holiday to your cottage this summer, you probably noticed that the water levels in the streams, rivers, or lake that surround your property were incredibly high– maybe even higher than they’ve ever been before. Docks and shorelines throughout cottage country here in the Georgian Bay area were submersed in water for much of the season due to historically high water levels throughout this region. In July 2019, specifically throughout the Lake Ontario system, water levels didn’t dip below 75.85 metres, a figure higher than the average for water levels in this part of the country.

What’s the cause behind these historically high water levels? While water levels are dependent on many factors, heavy rainfall is one reason why Lake Ontario experienced higher-than-normal water levels this season. This heavy rain impacted Lake Ontario itself, as well as areas near the lake and its inflows (the streams and rivers that feed directly into the lake).

With so much water, you’re probably worried about erosion on your waterfront property. Here at Husky Property Maintenance, we have a variety of waterfront restoration options available to you that can help you combat the effects of erosion. For example, we can implement erosion control methods, install natural stone pathways and patios, grade your property, build retaining walls, solve drainage issues, and more.
